Ringworm-Athlete's Feet-Jock Itch

What is it?
Ringworm-is an infection caused by a fungus. It can appear on the skin, groin or hands.

Athlete's foot-is a rash on the skin. It appears on the feet.

Jock itch-is a form of ringworm that causes an itchy rash on the groin area. (is a form of ringworm)

What causes it?
Ringworm is caused from an infection of skin fungi.

Athlete's foot is caused by one of two types of fungus and you can get it when you come in contact with the fungus. It is very contagious and easily spread.

Jock itchis caused by moisture, warmth and skin friction in the groin folds. Tight clothing can contribute to it since they tend to trap in sweat.

Athlete's foot- depends on the severity of the infection.
-nonprescription anti-fungals are used first.
-prescribe oral anti-fungal medicine if it continues to get worse or spread.

Jock itch-there are two types of treatment for both types of jock itch.
fungal: -wash groin daily with anti-fungal shampoo.
-use topic anti-fungal cream.
bacterial: -use anti-bacterial skin washes.
-twice daily application of toical antibiotic.

-itching,stinging,or burning of the feet or toes
-itchy blisters
-cracking and peeling skin
-excessive dryness
-toenails discolored/pulling away from the nail

Jock Itch
-itching in the groin
-dry, rough, bumpy skin that oozes
-severe cases can develop ulcers or sores
